About Fulton Valley Farms
Fulton Valley Farms was established in 1925 as the main processor for Central Coast Farms in the heart of California. We pride ourselves on the practices of raising chickens how it was done long ago, without the use of antibiotics, hormones or animal byproducts in the feed. Using these practices, we are able to provide a fresh, local product with a noticeable quality in both taste and texture. In 2012 the Pitman family was entrusted to carry on the Fulton Valley Farms legacy, and committed to continuing the traditions started back in 1925.
All of our organic non-GMO chickens are raised with the highest standards for animal welfare, from egg to harvest. We ensure our birds have plent of space and access to both indoor and outdoor living space that far exceeds the industry standards. We include environmental enrichments on the farms, such as hay bales, eucalyptus branches and shaded areas in the outdoor living space.
Our organic non-GMO pasture raised program offers our Fulton Valley Farms eggs. These eggs are produced by free range, slow growth brown chickens. These chickens spend their days and nights in open pastures, roaming freely as they forage and play. They are given the choice to sleep in open huts or upon roosts which we have built on the pastures. Our farmers take great pride in these birds welfare and the collection of the eggs on a daily basis, which they do by hand.
Our feed is:
- No Antibiotics

- No Synthetic Amino Acids
- 65% Organic corn
- 30% Organic Soybean Meal
- 5% Vitamins and nutrients
GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms,” are plants created through gene splicing. This experimental technology merges DNA from different plant, bacterial, and viral genes into combinations that cannot occur naturally.
Organic food is farmed and raised with an emphasis on renewable resources, through the conservation of soil and water to enhance the environment. This is all done without the use of pesticides, fertilizers or synthetic ingredients on the plants which our birds eat, as well as on the farms where they live. The organic chickens are raised without ever receiving antibiotics or growth hormones.
Fulton Valley chickens are cooled by using an air chilling system. Each bird is given space on the production line for cold air to flow through and around them, bringing their temperature down to safe storage levels. This process helps to lock in the natural flavors found within the meat, as we do not use the industry standard method of water immersion, which washes away flavor as the birds are cooled in a chlorinated communal water bath.
Controlled Atmosphere Stunning (CAS)
Fulton Valley chickens are humanely harvested using a controlled atmosphere stunning system. In this method, the birds are slowly moved through a system which introduces controlled amounts of CO2. This process reduces the stress of the birds, relaxing them to the point that they fall into a very deep sleep.
